De belangrijkste kerstmaaltijd wordt echter op kerstavond gegeten. Dit is wat je te weten komt over de kerstviering in Bulgarije.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dit jaar wordt onze eerste kerst in Bulgarije. We zullen samen met een Bulgaarse familie, die onze vrienden zijn, genieten van deze zeer speciale gebeurtenis. Een mooie gelegenheid om met jullie te delen wat je moet weten over hoe de Bulgaren Kerstmis vieren. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Advent <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Gewoonlijk beginnen de voorbereidingen voor het vieren van Kerstmis in Bulgarije zo'n 40 dagen eerder met het zogenaamde adventseizoen (een seizoen dat in veel christelijke kerken, waaronder de orthodoxe, wordt gevierd). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dag van de heilige Ignatius van Antiochi\u00eb<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoewel de echte kerst in Bulgarije officieel op 25 december valt, is 20 december \u201cIgnazhden\u201d (de dag waarop Sint Ignatius wordt ge\u00eberd) ook een traditionele feestdag in de Bulgaarse cultuur. De reden hiervoor is een legende die zegt dat Maria op die dag begon met de geboorte van Jezus, maar dat de bevalling nog vier dagen duurde tot kerstavond. Toch werd de geboorte pas op de 25e aangekondigd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Het speciale diner op kerstavond <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Daarom wordt de avond van 24 december - kerstavond (\u201cBudni Vecher\u201d in het Bulgaars) ook gevierd, meestal met een familiediner. De maaltijden die die avond worden geserveerd moeten vegetarisch zijn. Daarom bestaat het kerstavondmenu uit bonensoep, \u201csarmi\u201d koolbladeren gevuld met rijst, paprika's met rijst, gekookte tarwe met suiker en walnoten, en verschillende soorten gebak.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bovendien moeten de maaltijden altijd een oneven aantal zijn - 7, 9 of 11, net als de gasten die zijn uitgenodigd voor het familiediner. Een ander essentieel onderdeel van het diner is de Pitka - een speciaal rond brood waar een muntje in zit. Als je de munt vindt, heb je het komende jaar veel geluk! De oudste persoon snijdt het brood en overhandigt een peace aan elk familielid dat bij het diner aanwezig is. Na afloop van het diner blijft het eten op tafel staan tot de volgende ochtend. De reden hiervoor is het geloof van de meeste Bulgaren dat de geesten van hun overleden voorouders 's nachts naar het huis kunnen komen om iets te eten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Vlees op eerste kerstdag <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Op eerste kerstdag komen de meeste families weer samen rond de tafel voor de lunch of het diner, maar deze keer staat er vlees op het menu. Een belangrijke maaltijd die dag is banitsa, een populaire traditionele Bulgaarse soort borek die wordt bereid door een mengsel van geklopte eieren, natuurlijke yoghurt en stukjes feta op elkaar te leggen.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>De traditionele zang van de Koledari<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Een ander interessant kerstgebruik is het zingen van de Koledari. Dit zijn groepen mannen gekleed in traditionele kleding die bekend staan als \u201cnossia\u201d die naar de huizen komen en kerstliedjes zingen aan de deuren in de avond van Kerstmis. De liederen worden meestal twee keer gezongen: een deel van de mannen zingt het lied \u00e9\u00e9n keer en de anderen zingen het nog een keer. Tot slot krijgen de Koledari eten als beloning.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>De kerstboom<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Met kerst versieren Bulgaren ook kerstbomen. Ze zetten de boom meestal binnen in hun huis en leggen er kerstcadeautjes onder. Toch hebben sommige Bulgaren nog steeds een traditioneel kerstblok genaamd \u2018Budnik\u2019 dat op kerstavond naar het huis wordt gebracht.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>De Kerstman is er ook <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>De Kerstman maakt ook deel uit van de moderne kerstvieringen in Bulgarije. Hier noemen de mensen hem \u2018Dyado Koleda\u2019, wat Grootvader Kerstmis betekent, en vertellen ze hun kinderen verhalen over deze goedhartige oude man die in zijn slade komt en cadeautjes geeft aan de kinderen, maar alleen aan degenen die het hele jaar braaf zijn geweest.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Er zouden nog veel meer verhalen verteld kunnen worden over Kerstmis in Bulgarije. Maar als je de unieke sfeer van deze feestdag wilt voelen en het vieren als een echte Bulgaar voor een kerstboom of in Budnik pitka en sarmi wilt eten, dan moet je zo snel mogelijk een kerstvakantie boeken in dit prachtige Balkanland.
