Vino Orenda : The first Bulgarian wines shop in Sofia and more

Vino Orenda

Vino Orenda is the first shop only for Bulgarian wines in the heart of Sofia offering a selection of more than 300 wines from 60 Bulgarian wineries. Welcome to one of most friendly Bulgarian Wine shop where Valentina and Asen welcomed us for a very special degustation.

They opened Vino Orenda wine shop on 17th of September 2012- the day of Sofia and since they continue to convey their passion for Bulgarian wines. Valentina and Asen are two very friendly Bulgarian people, totally passionate by Bulgarian wines. And it already makes us two points in common, because as you know we love Bulgarian wine very much too. During a very nice and friendly improvised tasting, Valentina explained how it all happened.  The wine was their hobby for a long time. That’s why they decided to learn more and more about it – to try more and more new wines until becoming experts in Bulgarian wine.

They have carried wine from each of their trips and tried different wines. Valentina and Asen have noticed that during the recent years in Bulgaria many good quality wines with modern visions have been made by enthusiastic winemakers wishing to show the new face to Bulgarian winemaking. They wanted to focus on offering their customers with the opportunity to get acquainted with as many interesting Bulgarian wines as possible in one place. And it works. The place is very nice, very friendly and
offers a wide range of delicious Bulgarian wines with more than 300 wines from 60 Bulgarian wineries. Red, White, Rose, etc. all you will searching is probably there and some Bulgarian wines can be found only there.

They were sure that many of our customers would be surprised and impresed by the Bulgarian wine market development. And t
he diversity of their cellar makes it possible to satisfy all affinities as numerous as they are.

With Vino Orenda, we are focus on small family wineries with a limited range of wines that are not found in the mass market.

Valentina told us that they visit most of the wineries they are working with. They know most of the owners and oenologists personally. It is important for them to add value when selling – information about wineries, wine history, curious facts.

She offered us to taste some wines and it was a real pleasure. The small sofa available in the shop at all times is really nice. We continued to ask her lot of questions. She told me that interest in Bulgarian wine grows every year.

For these nearly 5 years, since we are on the market, we notice a tendency of increasing Bulgarian wines from small producers in the restaurants.

During last year open new stores with focus on Bulgarian wine. But Valentina and Asen make event more, proposing regular wine tastings – at least 2-3 per month with different themes (events they relay on their Facebook page). They introduce new wineries, new harvests, they make blind tastings and those of different themes – varieties, regions, harvests. For their regular clients this is a good opportunity to meet, to chat about the favorite wine theme, to learn more interesting facts about Bulgarian varieties. Almost every wine tasting is attended by wine-makers, often the owners themselves. They do such wine tasting on a preliminary request – for groups of tourists, for companies as a team building, and they get a lot of fun.

People’s interest in Bulgarian wine continues to grow. Also, great news because many of their clients are foreigners. In the summer months, many tourists also visit the Vino Orenda shop, open to try and buy mainly wines from typical Bulgarian varieties.

To the question we always like to ask if the Bulgarian wine should think of more to export, Valentina answers us that their mission is also to increase the consumption of Bulgarian wine from the Bulgarians as a begining. To create interest and search for Bulgarian wine. They believe they will be his best ambassadors around the world. Concerning their furor projects, Valentina and Asen decided to surprise us. So in the meantime, we will follow them, continue to taste their wines, buy it and especially continue to support on « Repeat ».

Thank you Valentina & Asen for this very very friendly moment with you (ps : we were almost « Pompette »).
