If you are wondering which Bulgarian ski resorts to choose, here you will find some credible reviews of some of the most popular ones :
First of all, one of the most famous Bulgarian ski resorts is Bansko. Bansko is a small town at the foot of the Pirin Mountains. However since the beginning of the century it has evolved as one of the most popular ski resorts in the country. The reason: Bansko serves a gateway to 18 different ski and snowboard slopes of varying difficulty and length, including the popular Tomba run. Apart from that the resort offers to its visitors 10 lifts. So, it’s not a surprise that Bansko often hosts the Alpine Ski World Cup. Definitely a spot to enjoy in Winter 2020.
Similarly, but a little different, Borovets is a splending Bulgarian ski resort located among the pine forests of Rila mountain. It is the second most visited one and the first winter resort established on Bulgarian territory. Borovets became popular in the end of the 19th century after the Bulgarian prince Ferdinand had his winter residence built there in 1898. Nowadays Borovets is still a destination number one for winter tourism. The resort offers 27 ski slopes serviced by 5 lifts as well as all kinds of hotels from 5-star ones to unpretentious bed and breakfast places.
In addition, Vitosha mountain, is only 10km from the capital Sofia and is located at 1800m above sea level, which means it is it the highest ski resort in the country. Vitosha‘s Bulgarian ski resorts are one of the most preferred for snow sports, because of the numerous slopes, the pistes for children and the ski schools for adults and kids..But Vitosha is not solely a winter resort as it is as good for skiing as for going for walks or trekking in spring or summer. In addition, there are plenty of hotels in the Simeonovo and Dragalevtsi near Sofia, which offer excellent conditions for tourists.
Also, Pamporovo is another popular Bulgarian ski resort located in in the heart of the Rhodopi mountains – the Smolyan Province. Along with the difficult ski pistes the resort offers to the tourists numerous rounded slopes which makes it excellent for skiers and snowboarders who are new to these sports. Besides, Pamporovo is the sunniest Bulgarian mountain resort, it is estimated that there are around 120 sunny days in winter.
Then, Dobrinishte is also one of Bulgaria’s top ski resorts. It is located only 165 km (102 miles) from the capital, Sofia.and at about 7 km (4 miles) from Bansko.Apart from the numerous ski runs suitable for both first timers and skilled skiers Dobrinishte is the home of many natural mineral springs. And that’s not all! Dobrinishte is the starting point for a lot of hiking routes to the Pirin Mountain.
