Village Belchinski Bani, Enjoy A Spa Resort Close To Sofia

Village Belchinski Bani

Both its properties with multiple powers and its 800 and more mineral springs offering different curative characteristics, Bulgaria is one of the richest lands of spas and wellness spots in Europe. The Village Belchinski Bani is one of them.

Well known for their varied chemical composition, their rich in minerals structure and micro components, Bulgarian waters are « Magic Waters ». So, if you plan to visit Bulgaria and to spend few days in Sofia with time to visit its surroundings, Village Belchinski Bani is definitely a place no far away to stop for its wonderful water.

Located on Sofia District, South-West Bulgaria at only 53km from the capital (and very easy to get it) and 20km from Borovets, a Bulgarian famous Ski resort, Village Belchinski Bani is situated in the Palakaria kettle, at the foot of the Verila Mountain, from 700 to 999 meters in altitude.

Usually, we use to say « Belchin » when we come there but in fact Belchin is the village close to the Village Belchinski Bani. But for me it’s the same, because both can be split while a trip here. If you don’t know the place, the first impression (without consulting a guide or anything else) about this two villages (Belchin + Belchinski Bani) is neutral. In winter, it may even seem austere. But do not rely on appearances, this place can make you very nice and even offer you pleasure.

One kilometer away from Belchin take place the mineral springs and the small resort of Village Belchinski Bani (Belchin mineral baths). The water is hyper thermal with temperature of 37-39 С. The mineral water (with temperature of 40-41.5° С) is suitable for treatment of diseases of the locomotory system, the nervous system, the female genitals and skin diseases.

Belchin Garden Hotel, situated in Village Belchinski Bani, is the place I stay when I spend time there, especially in winter when it’s cold. So, I think you take more pleasure when the outside weather is very very bad because you seem to be in a coconing bubble and it’s just very relaxing.

We went there 2 times. The rooms are large and clean. The place is very cosy and elegant but also very quiet, calm and relaxing. « Zen » is the word of the place, to make a break and to feel very good. It offers 2 larges swimming pools (inside and outside) with ONLY mineral water, a fitness room and a Spa area with common places as hammam & Finnish sauna, roman bath, light therapy and warm relaxation benches (all included in your room price).

There are also private paying body cares for which is recommended to book your cares as soon as possible because there is no lot of free place (General prices for a Spa Body Care/Massage & Hammam/Face Care/ Physiotherapy : between 10 and 80 levas/50min > other ? you can ask me I have all the prices for all cares with me).

We booked a message with exfoliation and it was great, lived up to my expectations. The place offers also a restaurant which proposes a varied and not expensive menu with an excellent wine list.

After (or before) relaxation, if you want to visit the area, in Belchin takes place the Tsari Mali Grad Fortress, the « new wonder of Bulgaria » and one of the most beautiful attractions of Belchin Village.

Located at only 2km from the Belchin Garden Hotel, this fortress is the track for ancient life. In 2007, a total survey and research was carried out. It was found out that the current church was built above the foundations of another temple and the researches of St. Spas Peak discovered wall of a citadel of the Roman Empire. The findings showed coins, everyday ceramics and pottery, etc, currently exposed in an Ethnographic Museum which takes place here. The medieval church of XVI century « St. Petka » is the first landmark that the visitors see.

From the spring of 2014 the management of complex plans to do reenactments, concerts, summer cinemas with historical films and more. Beyond the fortress, it lies a theme park with a 100-foot rope suspension bridge connects the castle with Park. There are built 13 facilities for the kids (swings, slides, monkey bars).

This fortress area can be reached through two eco-trails, located on each part of the complex, by its right when you are on the parking places, and by its left when you are back to the bar, as well as through the rope bridge by rail transport. The view from the top is very wonderful. Enjoy your moment!
