The Historical Place
The Hadji Nikoli Inn monument of Veliko Tarnovo is definitely part of the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage and a unique masterpiece from the age of the Bulgarian Renaissance. The inn was built in 1858 for Hadji Nikoli – a famous Turnovo tradesman who took an active part in the struggle for an independent Bulgarian Orthodox Church. The architect and builder was the native genius builder master Kolyo Ficheto who created a magnificent monumental building compared to a Venetian Palace even today. The Inn is also significant because of the fact that it is the only one of all 70 inns built in the city that survived over the years.
A Fine Restaurant
The Hadji Nikoli Inn restaurant offers the following types of cuisine : Bulgarian, European, International, Mediterranean. It also there cooks some high-end treats included escargots bourguignon, mussels sauteed in white wine and exquisitely prepared pork neck. A discrete ‘gourmet room’ out the back has a secret menu for extreme epicures. Some break there, never disappointed. The service is also excellent. A Museum and Art Gallery
Both opened since March 2010, to become a regular home for valuable exhibits of the best pieces of mainly Bulgarian and foreign contemporary art, the Museum takes place on the second floor and hosts with representative historical exhibitions the biggest state museums in Bulgaria as well as private collections. The Art Gallery is located on the third floor of the Hadji Nikoli Inn and has six exhibit halls devided in two separated wings – Еvery day, free, from 10:00 am to 7:00pm (except Monday).
